State leaders: It’s a great loss to nation


KUALA TERENGGANU: Mentris Besar and Chief Ministers have expressed shock at Tan Sri Adenan Satem’s demise, calling it a huge loss to Sarawak and the nation.

“His passing is a shocker and a huge loss not only to Sarawak but also to Barisan Nasional,” said Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman in conveying his condolences to the late chief minister’s widow, Puan Sri Jamilah, and family.

“Let’s all of us pray for his soul to be placed with the pious ones. Al-Fatihah,” he said in a statement.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman described Adenan’s death as a personal loss to him.

“I have not only lost a comrade but also a good friend,” he said in a statement.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin expressed his condolences and said Adenan’s passing was untimely, especially at a time when he was actively implementing various initiatives to develop his state.

Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan described Adenan’s death as a great loss.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir said Adenan was a brave and big-hearted leader who always had the people’s best interest at heart, and was widely respected.

Malacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said the state government had conveyed its condolences to Adenan’s family.

He said the people of Malacca prayed for Allah to grant Adenan peace and blessings.

“We hope his struggle for the people and Sarawak will continue,” he said.

Perlis Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man regarded the death of Adenan as a big loss and expressed condolences on behalf of the state government.

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said Adenan was much loved by his people.

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said: “In the few years I met him during the regular Conference of Rulers meetings, I found him to be humble, well-read, easily approachable and willing to engage.”

Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said Adenan’s years of selfless service would always be remembered.
