For the record

IN our article on the conversion amendments passed by the Perlis state assembly, it has been pointed out to us that the headlines and a paragraph of the story, as published on Saturday, have been wrongly attributed to Perlis Mufti Datuk Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin.

Paragraph four of the story, which read: “The passing of the amendments seems to be at odds with this fatwa, on top of clashing with the Parliamentary Bill to prevent the unilateral conversion of a child,” had been inadvertently attributed to Dr Asri.

The Star expresses regret for the mistake.
