KUALA LUMPUR: Cartoonist Zunar (pic) is challenging a travel ban imposed on him by the Immigration Department in October this year.

Zunar, whose real name is Zulkiflee SM Anwarul Haque, named the Immigration Department Director-General, Home Minister and the Malaysian Government as respondents.

He filed his application for a judicial review at the High Court here Wednesday through his lawyers Eric Paulsen and Melissa Sasidaran.

Zunar said he want to travel to Singapore on Oct 17 but was stopped by an Immigration officer.

His lawyer Eric Paulsen said that they want to challenge the Immigration order, which denied his client's Constitutional right to freedom of movement.

He said he was not given any reason why the travel ban was imposed, which was the reason he was filing the legal action.
