Former IGP among 333 in Perak Sultan’s 60th birthday awards

IPOH: Former Inspector-General of Police Tun Hanif Omar heads the list of 333 recipients of honours and awards in conjunction with Perak Ruler Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah’s 60th birthday.

Hanif will be conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Nazrin Shah award, which carries the title Datuk Seri DiRaja, at the investiture ceremony at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar today.

Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong, also the Gerakan president and Teluk Intan MP; former High Court judge and Dewan Negara Perak member Datuk Zainal Adzam Abd Ghani; and Perak Council on Islamic Religion and Malay Customs president Tan Sri Dr Wan Mohd Zahid Mohd Nordin will receive the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP) which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) fleet commander Vice-Admiral Datuk Mohamad Roslan Mohamad Ramli is sole recipient of the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.

State Financial Officer Datuk Mohd Gazali Jalal is sole recipient of the Darjah Dato Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini which carries the title Datuk.

Heading the list of Darjah Dato Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP) recipients, is the late Ustaz Abu Bakar al-Baqir, a noted figure in the development of Islamic education in Malaysia. It carries the title Datuk.

Also conferred the DPMP are Universiti Malaya Medicine Faculty Dean and Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases Dr Adeeba Kamarulzaman; Higher Education Ministry Otolaryngology Depart­ment head Prof Dr Prepagaran Narayanan; Bagan Serai MP Dr Noor Azmi Ghazali; Perak MCA treasurer Lean Ah Too; Manong assemblyman Mohammad Kamil Shaffie; Perak Development Corporation deputy CEO Jamal Mohd Aris; Perak Syariah Court chief judge Asa’ari Mohd Yazid; and state Education Department director Rozi Puteh Ismail.

The others were state Public Works Department director Jamilol Nasir Saad; Kemas Malaysia director-general Amiruddin Ariffin; CIMB Group chief people officer Hamidah Naziadin; Cybersecurity Malaysia CEO Dr Amirudin Abdul Wahab; Perak TNB general mana­ger Raja Abd Jalil Raja Zaid; Ipoh City councillor Shahul Hamid My­­din Shah who is also Tambun MIC chief; Universiti Sultan Azlan Shah Bhd board member Mustafa Mohd Nor; and lawyer Ang Saik Hoon.

Conferred the Darjah Dato Pahlawan Taming Sari award which carries the title Datuk Pahlawan, are state deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Hasnan Hassan; Royal Army Engineers Regiment director Brig-Jen Ahmad Nasir Abd Rahman; Tuanku Mizan Military Hospital commanding officer Brig-Jen Dr Md Amin Muslan; and RMN Eastern Joint Forces 2 Commander First Admiral Syed Zahrul Putra Syed Abdullah.

Batu Gajah OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Nasri Omar will receive the Darjah Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini while Taiping OCPD Asst Comm Harrith Kam Abdullah and Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong will be conferred the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak.

For her valiant performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics, diver Cheong Jun Hoong will receive the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak.

She and fellow diver Pandelela Rinong earned the country’s first medal – a silver – at the recent Olympic Games, in the 10m synchronised diving event.
