Mustafa appointed Home Ministry deputy sec-gen of security

PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Mustafa Ibrahim, 58, has been appointed as the Home Ministry’s new deputy secretary-general of security.

The outgoing Immigration director-general assumes his new role on Feb 2.

Mustafa’s deputy, Datuk Sakib Kusmi, will replace him as the new Immigration director-general.

“During my one year stint as the director-general of Immigration, the department has undergone a massive transformation, especially in our services to the people.

“A lot of our services are now available online and you can see in the past year, the queues at our department offices have been reduced due to this.

“It is my hope that the department will continue its transformation even after I have left,” said Mustafa in a brief speech.

He said in 2015, the department had also gone all out to reduce the number of illegals in the country.

“In 2015, 54,811 illegals have been identified and we have taken action under the Immigration Act. The operation has also banned 710 employers and 34 agents and syndicates,” he said.
