‘Never-before-seen’ documents submitted in kitchen murder

SELAYANG: “Never-before-seen” documents regarding a murder of a child who was found buried under the kitchen of a house was presented at the magistrate’s court here. 

Counsel Kitson Foong, who represented Tan Boa Jia, 32, said the documents included numerous photographs of the house, the hole of the kitchen where the child was buried as well pictures of a partially decomposed body of the boy who was still fully clothed apparently wrapped in plastic. 

Foong highlighted that the “never-seen-before” documents submitted by the prosecution were part of the documents that must be submitted before a trial commences. 

“A detailed police report about the complaint of the foul stench lodged by a neighbor was also included,” Foong told reporters on Tuesday. 

Tan, mother of the murdered child, was charged with causing the disappearance of evidence while her husband, debt collector Loo Chon Wen, 33, was charged with murder. 

Magistrate Norita Mohd Ardani set Nov 12 for mention pending pathology reports as requested by the prosecution. 

Tan’s defence team lead by Foong didn’t object to the request, saying that the postponement was important as more time was needed by the court to look into the documents. 

On June 12, Tan and her husband were charged in court after the discovery of Loo Yong Shen Evan's body buried under the floor of the couple's rented home. 

They were charged with committing the offences on March 29 at 2pm in Taman Usaha Jaya, Kepong. 

Their nine-year-old son was the third of the couple’s four children. 

Tan reportedly would stand as a prosecution witness against her husband over the death of their son.

DPP Sharifah Zulia Balqish Syed Agil prosecuted and no plea was recorded.
