KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took a swipe at one of his fiercest critics, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, saying he never imagined that the former prime minister would be so critical of him and his administration.
"Never in my wildest dreams (did I think) that my predecessor would go against me in this manner.
"But he is no longer the prime minister so (he) shouldn't take centre stage," the Prime Minister said at the opening of the World Capital Markets Symposium here.
While Najib did not specifically mention Dr Mahathir in his speech, it was obvious that he was referring to the elder statesman.
Dr Mahathir has been highly critical of Najib over the past few months, particularly on the 1MDB issue.
The former prime minister raised eyebrows when he was seen the Bersih 4 rally last weekend.
