Bersih 4: Twelve detained in Malacca over banned t-shirts

MALACCA: Police have arrested 12 individuals in the state for wearing yellow Bersih 4 t-shirts which have been prohibited under the Printing Presses and Publications (Control of Undesirable Publications) (No. 22) Order 2015.

Malacca police chief Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye said nine individuals were arrested while attending a Bersih rally in Dataran Pahlawan, Bandar Hilir here at 10.30pm on Saturday night while three others were arrested at roadblocks earlier in the day.

“All of them were brought to the nearest police stations and released on police bail after their statements were taken,” he said.

Chuah said police would continue to monitor the areas under focus to ensure public safety and order.

It was reported last Friday that the Home Ministry had issued a ban on the publishing of any materials related to Bersih 4. – Bernama
