HULU TERENGGANU: Umno members should not try to step over the heads of their  "bosses" and try to be number one, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Ahmad Zahid who is the Deputy Prime Minister said members should learn how to respect their bosses, let it be in the branch, division or in the government.

The Umno vice-president used himself as an example.

Ahmad Zahid said that he too should respect his "number one", Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

"My opinion is, if you are a number two, it's better to remain as number two. Don't try to be number one.

He then jokingly said, that such a practice would keep the number two safe.

Ahmad Zahid said this in his speech during the Hulu Terengganu Umno division meeting on Friday.

He added that these number twos should not be too ambitious and try to take the place of the number one. They should learn how to wait for their time.

Ahmad Zahid said that while differences in ideas within Umno members are normal but that differences should be solved in a proper manner, in closed door discussions and not through open confrontation.
