KUALA LUMPUR: Hundreds gathered here Saturday for a rally to protest the suspension of The Edge over its reports on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue.

The group gathered at Central Market before marching to the Bar Council office in Leboh Pasar, calling for the lifting of the suspension against The Edge Weekly, The Edge Financial Daily, and for the Sarawak Report website to be unblocked.

‎The group held placards and shouted slogans calling for press freedom.

The rally, organised by the Coalition of Press Freedom, is called 808 because it is held on Aug 8.

‎The coalition is a loose grouping of media groups comprising Gerakan Media Marah (Geramm), Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ), Foreign Correspondents Club of Malaysia and Reporters san frontieres.
