Ensure 1MDB probe is independent, say MACC panels

PETALING JAYA: The five independent oversight panels of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission said the 1Malaysia Development Bhd investigations should remain “independent and free from interference”.

In a joint statement yesterday, the five panels reiterated that the four agencies that make up the special taskforce investigating 1MDB – the Attorney-General’s Chambers, police, Bank Negara Malaysia and MACC – should be given “the latitude to conduct the investigations without fear or favour”.
