Bukit Aman fire: Only unimportant documents destroyed, says IGP

PETALING JAYA: Only unimportant documents were destroyed in the fire at the Police Headquarters in Bukit Aman, says Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar.

"The fire has been put out.

"There is no cause for alarm as only unimportant documents were lost during the fire," he tweeted Wednesday.

He added that the cause of the fire was being investigated.

A fire broke at Menara 2 earlier Wednesday.

Inspector-General of Police Secretariat assistant head (Corporate Communications) Asst Comm Datin Asmawati Ahmad said that the blaze is believed to have originated on levels 9 and 10, which is where the Criminal Investigation and Narcotics departments are located.
