Nur Jazlan: Give Finance Ministry time to find Jho Low

PETALING JAYA: The Finance Ministry should be given time to locate businessman Low Taek Jho or Jho Low as the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) request to find him was only sent to the ministry last week.

"We just sent them a letter last Friday to locate Jho Low, so give them time. It has just been three days," PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed (pic) told The Star Online.

He was responding to a report by a news portal on Monday that the Finance Ministry had failed to find Jho Low after being requested to do so by the committee.

On Sunday, Nur Jazlan said the PAC had sent a letter to the Finance Ministry seeking for businessman Jho Low to appear before the bi-partisan parliamentary committee on Sept 8.

He added that the PAC had also summoned the directors of Brazen Sky Sdn Bhd and one person other from a company under 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) involved in the investment in PetroSaudi International to appear before the committee on Sept 9 and Sept 13.

“It is the responsibility of the ministry as the main shareholder of 1MDB to trace them as they should know their whereabouts,” Nur Jazlan said.

The ministry, he said, could seek the assistance of authorities such as the police to look for them.

If those concerned failed to turn up, he said the PAC would then decide on the next course of action.

Nur Jazlan said the PAC had set Aug 4, 5 and 7 to meet former chief executive officers of 1MDB and Aug 17 and 18 to meet its former directors.

The committee wanted to hear from them about the allegations by former PetroSaudi International executive Xavier Andre Justo, he said.
