Mukhriz pays visit to Muhyiddin

KUALA LUMPUR: Many visitors were seen going in and out of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's house Tuesday, after it was announced he had been removed from his education minister and deputy prime minister posts.

Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir was seen entering Muhyiddin's house in Bukit Damansara here Tuesday night.

Mukhriz is the son of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, one of the most vocal critics of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak's administration.

Also seen was Ummi Hafilda Ali, a key witness at former Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial, who declared that she was leaving Umno following Muhyiddin's removal.

Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yassin, Muhyiddin's half-brother said he was holding up well.

"There's nothing to be sad about. It's part of politics. The question is, what he wants to do now that he is no more the deputy prime minister," he said.

The former Muar MP however noted that Muhyiddin was still Umno deputy president.

Former rural and regional development minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was seen leaving Muhyiddin's house at 4.25pm.

"Never be worried, never be sad when you fight for the people," he said as he left the house.

Shafie's portfolio is now taken over by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Umno Cheras division chief Datuk Syed Ali Syed Abas Alhabshi said he did not have any issue with the Cabinet reshuffle.

"That is the right of the Prime Minister," said Syed Ali.

Also seen at Muhyiddin's house were former Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP Datuk Zulkifli Noordin and former culture, arts and tourism minister Tan Sri Sabbaruddin Chik.
