Najib will be there, says Nothing2Hide organiser

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak (pic) will definitely be at Friday's "Nothing2Hide" no-holds-barred question-and-answer session, confirmed Malaysian Volunteer Lawyers Association (SukaGuam) chairman Datuk Khairul Anwar Rahmat.

"He will be arriving at 10. We have confirmation from his officers," said Khairul in a phone conversation with The Star Online on Thursday.

It was earlier reported that there would be a high probability that former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad would attend the session.

"There is a high probability he will be there," said an aide of Dr Mahathir when contacted by The Star Online on Thursday.

However he stopped short of confirming Dr Mahathir's attendance, saying; "You will have to wait and see at the event itself".

Khairul had reportedly said Dr Mahathir would be personally invited to the dialogue, scheduled to take place at from 9am to noon Friday at the Putra World Trade Centre's Dewan Tun Hussein Onn.

He said he had no problem if Dr Mahathir attended the forum as it was open to all.

"The media agencies – print, online and even bloggers – are invited as we all share the common mission of bringing truth to the people," he said.

The Nothing2Hide question-and-answer session, which is being organised and moderated by the Malaysian Volunteer Lawyers Association (SukaGuam) is set to give participants from non-governmental organisations, bloggers and the media a chance to ask Najib questions - including questions about the controversial Government investment arm 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

It had been reported that aside from questions on 1MDB, Najib will also be answering questions regarding the implementation of Goods and Services Tax during the two-way dialogue session.

"This town hall dialogue session has never been done before by any previous Prime Minister. You will hear the Prime Minister himself explain current issues and the invitation is open to ask him any question based on current events," said SukaGuam on its Facebook page.
