Malaysian student jailed over child porn

KUALA LUMPUR: By day, he was a scholarship holder studying at London’s Imperial College.

By night, he was a child porn addict who had 30,000 videos and photos of smut in what British police called the “most extreme material they have ever come across”.

British newspapers reported that police stormed the bedroom of Malaysian student Nur Fitri Azmeer Nordin in Queensborough Terrace, London, last Nov 21, where they found the 23-year-old sitting next to a life-sized mannequin of a boy.

In his computer was a cache of vile images of child pornography and videos of minors being abused. Many of the files were classified as Category A, meaning they depicted the most extreme form of abuse, The Mirror reported.

Metropolitan Police serious crime unit Detective Constable Sara Keane told the UK edition of International Business Times that Nur Fitri, from Kampar, had been making and sharing the smut online.

He was busted after police discovered an Internet account that had been downloading thousands of sexual abuse videos and images.

“The volume of images and the alarming content meant a custodial sentence for Nordin was inevitable.

“Among the thousands of images on his laptop and other electronic devices were a significant number of the highest category, meaning they depicted the most extreme abuse,” Keane was quoted as saying.

Nur Fitri was hauled into the Southwark Crown Court yesterday, where he was sentenced to five years’ jail after pleading guilty to 13 offences, including possession of indecent images and videos of children, with intent to distribute the material.

He will be considered for automatic deportation when released, said International Business Times.

He reportedly won a scholarship to study at Imperial College in 2012 and is said to have represented Malaysia in the International Mathematical Olympiad in 2011.
