Police: ‘Thirst’ concert cancellation due to safety concerns

PETALING JAYA: Police have denied that they were influenced by PAS with regard to the cancellation of the ‘Thirst 2015: We Are All Stardust’ concert.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Razimi Ahmad said the concert was cancelled due to security reasons and that police had followed strict standard operating procedure in doing so.

“We did receive objections from certain quarters but that did not influence our decision.

“It was purely made to ensure the safety and security of everyone involved,” he told The Star on Tuesday.

Seri Serdang PAS assemblyman Noor Hanim Ismail had earlier admitted to sending a letter objecting to the concert.

“I opposed it not just because I’m a Muslim, but I needed to be responsible to my constituents who had voiced their concern too,” she had told The Star Online.
