KOTA BARU: The Kelantan government has declared March 22, the polling day for the Chempaka by-election, as a public holiday.
Mentri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob in a press statement on Wednesday said the public holiday was to ensure that the polling process proceeded smooth without any incidents of vote manipulation."I sympathise with voters who have to juggle their work and the time to exercise their rights as Sunday is a working day. It is therefore appropriate to declare a public holiday on Sunday, March 22," he said.
