Dry taps continue for Selangor residents, water disruptions in KL

PETALING JAYA: Residents in Selangor continue to experience dry taps, as the water treatment plant at Sungai Semenyih has not resumed operations.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) in a statement on its website said that the plant was closed after high levels of ammonia and manganese were detected.

"The plant was shut down after the contamination was detected around noon on Saturday and should have started operating again at 9.30pm after the levels had improved," the statement said.

However, the disruption is set to continue following unscheduled low pressure.

Syabas will provide 49 tanker lorries for emergency delivery to 39 areas in Petaling, 72 in Kuala Langat, 209 in Hulu Langat and 86 in Sepang.

Further disruptions in Kuala Lumpur are also expected starting Monday due to maintenance work.

The affected areas are as follows:

Taman Tasik Puchong - March 9 (10pm-4am)

Taman Seputeh, Taman Bukit Seputeh, Mutiara Seputih, Sierra Seputeh, Robson Height, Jalan Syed Putra, Persiaran Syed Putra and Lorong Syed Putra Kuala Lumpur - From 9pm on March 11 to 7am on March 12

Duta Nusantara, Pandan Indah and Jalan Cempaka - March 11 (1am-5am)

Sri Permaisuri - March 19 (1am to 5am)

Taman Tenaga - March 20 (1am to 5am)
