Businessman loses RM500,000in burglary

GEORGE TOWN: A prominent businessman, his daughter and two maids were tied up by four knife-wielding burglars who subsequently escaped with RM300,000 and branded wristwatches, totalling about RM500,000 from their home in Taman Jesselton here.

Acting George Town OCPD Supt Abdul Rahman Ahmad when contacted said the burglars broke into the house via the backdoor and tied up the businessman’s daughter and two maids with handphone charger wires at 3.20am Saturday.

“The 56-year-old businessman was unaware that his house had been broken into until he heard someone knocking at the door of his study.

"He opened the door and saw his daughter and maids tied up.

“He was also tied up and told not to resist, but follow instructions. He was then told to open the safe box where the cash was kept.

“They took the cash and also escaped with a variety of wristwatches including two Rolex and two Hublot, and a handphone,” he added.
