Najib: Export our circumcision technology

PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has suggested that Malaysian-made Sunatech circumcision device be exported as there is a large market overseas.

He said the device was not only made for Muslims who practised male circumcision but for believers of other religions such as the Jews.

"We cannot deny that boys have traumatic experience going through the circumcision with the traditional method.

"Nowadays, we have modern technology like the Sunatech, which I am told can reduce the whole circumcision process to less than 10 minutes.

"Furthermore, it does not hurt that much and there will be less bleeding besides requiring no stitches and bandages.

"I encourage this technology to be exported because there is demand. Even non-Muslims are also practicing circumcision for health reasons," Najib said before launching a mass circumcision event here Saturday.

Najib, the Pekan MP, also proposed that the Sunatech method be used in rural areas which was difficult for doctors to reach.
