Security guard claims trial to charge of molesting 8-year-old girl

KUALA LUMPUR: A security guard claimed trial at the Magistrates' Court here Monday to a charge of molesting an eight-year-old girl last September.

Mohamad Borhanudin Mohd Shafiei, 48, was accused of molesting the girl, his neighbour's daughter, at a house in Cheras on Sept 6 at around 6am.

He was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 10 years, a fine, whipping or any two of such punishments, if convicted.

Magistrate Nurul Ain Abdul Rahim granted Mohamad Borhanudin bail of RM10,000 in one surety and fixed Nov 26 for mention.

Deputy public prosecutor N. Joy Jothi appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented. - Bernama
