Chief Secretary to Government leads Penang honours list


GEORGE TOWN: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa heads the list of 1,156 recipients to be conferred awards in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas’ 76th birthday.

Dr Ali is the sole recipient of the Darjah Utama Pangkuan Negeri (DUPN) award, which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama.

Another sole recipient is Army Chief Jen Tan Sri Raja Mohamed Affandi Raja Mohamed Noor, 57, who will receive the Darjah Panglima Pangkuan Negeri (DPPN), which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Nine people will receive the Darjah Gemilang Pangkuan Negeri (DGPN) that carries the title Datuk Seri. They are Penang State Secretary Datuk Farizan Darus, Supervisory Board of B. Braun Melsugen AG chairman Prof Dr H.C. Ludwig Georg Braun (Honorary), Brahim’s Holdings Bhd executive chairman Datuk Ibrahim Ahmad, Hunza Properties Bhd founder Datuk Khor Teng Tong, Butterworth Lim Construction Sdn Bhd owner Datuk Lim Chin Leng, PLB Group founder Datuk Ong Choo Hoon, Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society Foundation president Datuk Ooi Soo Hing, Yusuf Taiyoob Sdn Bhd executive chairman and managing director Datuk Yusuf Taiyoob and Tabung Haji Travels chairman Datuk Zainul Azman Datuk Zainul Aziz.

Among the 16 recipients for the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (DMPN) award, which carries the title Datuk, are Defence Intelligence director-general Lt-Jen Datuk Abdul Hadi Hussin, Penang Hospital’s senior consultant forensic pathologist Datuk Dr Bhupinder Singh, and Unimech Group Sdn Bhd founder and managing director Datuk Lim Cheah Chooi.

A total of 64 people are receiving the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) which carries the title Datuk.

They include Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz’s press secretary Ahmad Fazli Ahamad Nordin, Bishop Emeritus Antony Selvayanagam and Tesco Stores Malaysia government relations and corporate affairs director Azlam Shah Alias.

A total of 65 people are receiving the Darjah Johan Negeri (DJN), 32 people the Bintang Cemerlang Negeri (BCN), 160 the Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji (PKT), 442 the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK), 310 the Pingat Jasa Masya­rakat (PJM) and 56 the Pingat Bakti Setia (PBS).
