KAMPAR: Parti Cinta Malaysia vice-president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan has posted the bail of RM5,000 for C. Selvam, the late Karpal Singh's driver.
Selvam has been in Taiping prison since July 9, after he was charged with reckless driving that caused the deaths of the former DAP national chairman and veteran lawyer, and his personal aide Michael Cornelius on April 17.
Huan posted bail at 9.30am Monday at the Kampar Magistrate's court after preparing a bank draft from a nearby bank.
"Selvam is expected to be released on bail from the prison tomorrow (Tuesday) before being brought to the Magistrate's court here," Huan told reporters.
"He will need to appear before the court on Wednesday for mention, and until then, I will be staying in Kampar to accompany him until he engages a lawyer."
Asked why he posted bail, Huan said he did it on humanitarian grounds.
