PETALING JAYA: Another branch office of the multi-level marketing schemes run by self-proclaimed Chinese millionaire Zhang Jian in Sri Petaling was raided by authorities.
However, the company headquarters in Setiawalk, Puchong, had reopened despite being raided only a day before.
Five personnel from the state Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry raided the premises at about 11.50am yesterday, seizing items such as fake Tupperware merchandise with decals of Zhang’s face.
This was the third outlet to be raided by authorities after their operations were deemed illegal by the ministry.
A check on the headquarters in Puchong showed that the outlet had re-opened although it was raided by a team of more than 10 personnel a day before.
According to a staff, who declined to be named, the officers who raided the premises on Tuesday did not seal off the place.
“They only seized the items. That’s why we are operating,” he said.
Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Alias Ahmad said he had directed officers at its state office to monitor the case and find Zhang.
The authorities, he added, were also studying the seized items, including computers and other documents from the raid on Tuesday.
