MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said it does not matter which party is contesting as long as it was under the Barisan ticket.

"We will discuss with all Barisan component parties before making a decision," Liow said at a press conference here on Friday.

Asked if names had been shortlisted as contestants, Liow said the party has a few names but "we will not reveal anything yet."

The by-election was called following the death of DAP's Karpal Singh on April 17. Nomination for the parliament seat is on May 12 and polling on May 25.
