PETALING JAYA: Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) has advised consumers not affected by the water rationing exercise to be frugal with their consumption.
Syabas’ corporate communications assistant general manager Priscilla Alfred said in a statement on Sunday that rationing was being carried out as the quantity of treated water in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya had decreased by 300mil litres a day.
“Consumers whose areas are not affected by the rationing are urged to save water and reduce their consumption to help reach the target of 300mil litres a day,” she said.
It will affect 402,457 households and businesses in six districts namely Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam and Kuala Selangor.
More than two million people will have to endure a month with water being supplied at intervals of two days supply, followed by two days of dry taps.
