KUALA LUMPUR: Internationally-acclaimed Indian composer A.R. Rahman considers Malaysia to be one of his most extraordinary fan bases and aims to give them an unforgettable time at his upcoming concert here at Stadium Merdeka.
“I get so much support here from my fans, (for both) Tamil and Hindi music so it’s going to be a great show,” he said at a press conference held to promote his A.R. Rahman Infinite Love Live In Concert show, to be held on April 26.
Renowned worldwide for his innovative compositions, Rahman has won two Academy Awards (for his work on Slumdog Millionaire), two Grammy Awards, a Bafta award and a Golden Globe award, in addition to the numerous awards and nominations he has to his name in India.
Having last performed in Kuala Lumpur in 2003, Rahman said he was very excited to present his new repertoire of numbers to his fans here.
Joining him for the three-and-a-half-hour concert will be a star-studded list of Indian musical talent, such as Mohit Chauhan, Javed Ali, Mano, Chitra, Vijay Prakash, Neeti Mohan, Harshdeep Kaur and Shweta Pandit, as well as a 78-piece music ensemble.
With Rahman’s hugely diverse body of work, the concert is expected to include a mix of beloved classic numbers and recent hits in both Hindi and Tamil, as well as a Qawwalli segment with Sufi devotional music and an electronic dance music section.
Organised by DML Live, A.R. Rahman Infinite Love Live In Concert is supported by Malaysia Major Events, a division of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau under the Tourism and Culture Ministry.
Tickets, ranging from RM98 to RM1,499, will be available from 3pm tomorrow at http://www.dmllive.com.
