KUALA LUMPUR: The Star’s executive editor Errol Oh won the Corporate Governance Journalist of the Year award at the Malaysia-Asean Corporate Governance Index 2013 and awards ceremony.

Organised by the Minority Shareholder Watchdog Group (MSWG), the award is in recognition of the recipient’s continuous effort in highlighting corporate governance issues in the media and raising its awareness among the investing public.

“I write about corporate governance because it is about doing the right things, and we all often need to be reminded about what the right things are.

“This award is a nice bonus,” said Oh after receiving the award at the Sime Darby Convention Centre here.

Oh highlights corporate governance issues in his weekly column called Optimistically Cautious, which appears in Star BizWeek.

Also at the event, RHB Capital Bhd chairman Datuk Mohamed Khadar Merican received the Chairman of the Year award while CIMB Group Holdings Bhd managing director and chief executive Datuk Seri Nazir Razak was named CEO of the Year.

MSWG was established in 2000 as part of a government initiative to protect the interests of minority shareholders.
