PETALING JAYA: More than half of Umno wings’ divisional heads are now made up of new faces.

In some states, only a handful of the incumbents were voted in again as the delegates opted for new faces to take over the wings in their respective divisions in the wings’ elections on Saturday.

In Terengganu, the Youth and Puteri chiefs in all of its eight divisions were made up of new faces while for Wanita, only half of it managed to fend off their challengers.

The situation was also the same in Sabah where more than half of the wings leaders have changed.

Fifteen of the 25 divisions in the state now have new Youth and Puteri leaders while for Wanita wing, nine divisions are now headed by new faces. The state Wanita chief Datuk Armani Mahiruddin however managed to retained her position as Libaran Wanita chief.

For the Youth wing, the new faces include the Kimanis chief, Ahmad Firdauss Anifah, the son of division chief and Foreign Minister Datuk Anifah Aman.

In Perak, new faces also dominated the three wings.

Thirteen of the 24 Wanita chiefs, 17 of the Youth division heads and 16 of the Puteri chiefs are new.

Similar scenario also prevailed in other states where most of their Wanita, Youth and Puteri division chiefs were now made up of new faces.
