Najib: Government will work towards fulfilling all pledges made during GE13

PEKAN: The Government will work towards fulfilling all pledges made during the recent general election, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Najib said however, not all of the pledges could be carried out immediately.

"Some of them require proper planning and a suitable time frame to execute as huge allocations were involved.

"Those which are within our means will be expedited and all the parties involved must see them through," he said in his speech during his Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at Taman Tasik Sultan Abu Bakar on Saturday.

Tens of thousands of people from all walks of life come together to attend the event, which was held at his Pekan parliamentary constituency.

Najib said Barisan Nasional was committed to uphold the trust and responsibilities entrusted by the people.

He said all pledges would be fulfilled within a period of five years and in stages.

"We are not here just to serve five years but throughout the years to come.

"Barisan and Umno will be here to stay in maintaining a peaceful, harmonious and developed nation," he said.

Najib said the police had been directed to take stern action against criminal activities, which had triggered much concern among the public.

On the political violence in Egypt, Najib said the situation should serve as a lesson to value peace and harmony.

He said the Government was prepared to bring back all Malaysian students if the violence escalated further.
