Palanivel ready to face challenges

KUALA LUMPUR: MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel is ready to face any challenge on various environmental issues following his appointment as Natural Resources and Environment Minister.

“It is a challenging ministry and I hope to play a role in protecting and nurturing our environment,” he said after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced the Cabinet line-up yesterday.

Elaborating, Palanivel said it was an interesting ministry to helm due its wide-ranging areas of interest.

“It is also closely related to my constituency (Cameron Highlands),” he said, alluding to the nature hotspot in Pahang.

Thanking Najib for the appointment, Palanivel pledged to give his best to look into all related issues.

He also vowed to enhance sustainable management of the country’s natural resources.

Penang PPP’s Datuk Dr Loga Bala Mohan Jaganathan, who was named Deputy Federal Territories Minister, is one of the two pioneer non-MIC appointments in Najib’s line-up.

Dr Loga Bala Mohan, who will be appointed a senator, viewed his appointment as a heavy responsibility.
