Five killed in freak collision along Federal Highway (updated)


SHAH ALAM: Five people were killed following a freak accident along KM10.1 of the Federal Highway early Sunday morning.

Police confirmed the accident, adding that the dead are Wilson Lee, 22, M. Kalaychelven, 50, Muhammad Faridzuan Mohd Aziz, 21, Amirul Faiq Zainuddin, 22, and Syahmie Farid Izzat Samsudin Shah, 21.

The accident occurred at around 3.30am on Sunday shortly after a group of motorcyclists stopped on the road shoulder heading towards Klang, following a breakdown of one machine.

According to police, a Honda City driven by Lee went out of control and rammed into two motorcyclists, Faridzuan and Amirul, killing all three on the spot.

Following the initial collision, a BMW 3 series car stopped to help the victims of the accident.

One of the passengers, Kalaychelven, got out of the car when another motorcyclist, Syahmie, rammed into him.

Syahmie and Kalaychelven were killed on the spot.

Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Zahedi Ayob said Police have taken a sample of Lee's blood to check his blood alcohol levels.

The case is being investigated as reckless driving under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
