Arifin and Zulkifeli top Selangor awards list

PETALING JAYA: Chief Justice Tun Arifin Zakaria and Armed Forces Chief Jeneral Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin headed the list of 98 recipients of awards in conjunction with the 67th birthday of the Sultan of Selangor.

They are the only two recipients bestowed with the Darjah Kebesaran Seri Paduka Mahkota Selangor (SPMS) award which carries the title Datuk Seri.

State Secretary Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi, in a statement, said only 32 recipients had been selected for Darjah and Bintang Kebesaran awards, which carry the titles Datuk Seri, Datuk Setia and Datuk, out of a total of 831 nominations received.

Former Selangor State Secretary who is also a member of the Selangor Royal Council, Datuk Ramli Mahmud was conferred the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Setia - Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SSIS) which carries the title Datuk Setia.

Among the 15 recipients of the Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Paduka Mahkota Selangor (DPMS), which carries the title Datuk, are The Keeper of the Rulers' Seal Datuk Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, Court of Appeal Judge Justice Mah Weng Kwai, SP Setia president and chief executive Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin, Tengku Ampuan Rahimah hospital Orthopaedic and Traumatology department head Dr Thirumal C.M. Manikam and Institute of Agricultural and Food Policy Studies director Prof Dr Fatimah Mohamed Arshad.

The Darjah Kebesaran Datuk Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (DSIS), that also carries the title Datuk will be conferred to 14 individuals including UPM's Prof Dr Tai Shzee Yew, Universiti Malaya Specialist Centre consultant cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Aljafri Dr Abdul Majid Ismail and Axis REIT Managers Bhd CEO George Stewart Labrooy.

Meanwhile, thirteen individuals will receive the Setia Mahkota Selangor (SMS) award, 16 the Darjah Kebesaran Setia-Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (SIS) award, 15 the Darjah Kebesaran Ahli Mahkota Selangor (AMS) award, 15 the Darjah Kebesaran Ahli- Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah (AIS) award and seven will be conferred the Bintang Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (BPC) award.

Recipients of the SMS award include state deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk A. Thaiveegan and Universiti Putra Malaysia lecturer Assoc Prof Dr Lim Swee Tin.
