Medical relief group sacks Seow

THE International Medical Relief (IMR) has terminated the services of controversial figure Winson Seow Yuan Sheng as a volunteer with the organisation, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The daily reported that IMR, in its statement, also said it was investigating Seow for allegedly faking his academic qualifications in his application to become a volunteer with the organisation.

IMR spokesman Mary Lou Vollmer said the organisation was thinking of taking legal action against Seow.

She denied that Seow had performed surgeries while serving under IMR, adding that the organisation had never served in war zones.

The story of Seow, who claimed to be a military surgeon, came to light earlier this year when local dailies reported his inspiring tales of serving in war-torn countries.

> A 65-year-old woman caused a commotion when she lay down in the middle of the road in an apparent suicide bid in Seremban on Wednesday, reported China Press.

Several passers-by, who initially thought she was an accident victim, rushed over to carry her to safety.

The woman, in between sobs, complained that her son had thrown her things away.

When contacted, her son said he was working in Kuala Lumpur and could not leave his job.

An ambulance was then called in to send the woman to hospital.
