Perak Sultan honours 867


IPOH: The Sultan of Johor's consort Tuanku Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah heads the honours list of 867 recipients in conjunction with Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah's 84th birthday.

State Secretary Datuk Abdul Puhat Mat Nayan, who released the list at his office here yesterday, said Raja Zarith would be bestowed the Darjah Kerabat Diraja Yang Amat Dihormati (DK).

Chief Justice Tan Sri Arifin Zakaria is the sole recipient of the Darjah Seri Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini, which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Among the eight recipients of the Darjah Seri Paduka Mahkota Perak (SPMP), which carries the title Datuk Seri, are Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Zulkefli Ahmad Makinudin, actress Datuk Michelle Yeoh, Works Minister Datuk Seri Shaziman Abu Mansor, Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd executive chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Hashim Ahmad Makaruddin and Thailand Hockey Association president Chaiyapak Siriwat.

Army chief Jen Datuk Zulkifli Zainal Abidin and Royal Malaysian Navy deputy chief Vice-Admiral Datuk Mohammed Noordin Ali are among three people who will be awarded the Darjah Seri Panglima Taming Sari (SPTS), which carries the title Datuk Seri Panglima.

Datuk Dr Muhammad Afifi Al-Akiti, who is attached to the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, will be awarded the Darjah Datuk Paduka Cura Si Manja Kini, which carries the title Datuk.

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir's political secretary Datuk Ahmad Shalimin Ahmad Shaffie, Perak Welfare Department director Chong Phaik Kee and Perak Forestry Department director Roslan Ariffin are among 48 people to be conferred the Darjah Datuk Paduka Mahkota Perak (DPMP), which carries the title Datuk.

Other notable recipients of the award are Manjung District Council president Zamri Man, Teluk Intan District Council president Ibrahim Ahmad, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission state director Nooraziah Abdul Manaf, National Heart Institute consultant cardiothoracic surgeon Dr Mohamed Ezani Taib, Berita Harian group editor Datuk Mior Kamarulbaid Mior Shahid, Education Minister's political secretary Nardin Awang and Perak MCA liaison committee organising secretary Hing Thian Kiak.

Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Shukri Dahlan, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib, and Sarawak CID chief Senior Asst Comm Zulkifli Hassan are among the seven who will be conferred the Darjah Datuk Pahlawan Taming Sari (DPTS), which carries the title Datuk Pahlawan.

State police narcotics chief Asst Comm Eiap Eang Kian will receive the Darjah Paduka Mahkota Perak (PMP), while New Straits Times journalist P. Chandra Sagaran will receive the Darjah Ahli Mahkota Perak (AMP).

The investiture ceremony will be at Balairong Seri, Istana Iskandariah, in Kuala Kangsar today.
