Ah Niu reveals divorce

MALAYSIAN singer-cum-director Tan Kheng Seong, popularly known as Ah Niu, has admitted that he and his Taiwanese wife divorced several years ago, major Chinese newspapers reported.

Tan revealed the much-speculated matter to the press at a party to celebrate the success of his movie The Wedding Diary, China Press reported.

“It's not easy to talk about matters of this kind in public. I want to make an official announcement that we are divorced,” said Tan, who did not elaborate.

He expressed hope that the people would focus on his work instead of his marital status.

Tan married the Taiwanese in 2000.

The couple had a low-key wedding dinner in Penang, inviting only family members to the reception.

His wife gave birth to a baby girl on Valentine's Day the following year.

Currently, Tan's 11-year-old daughter lives with his parents in Malaysia.

Tan's manager said the girl and her mother had a good relationship even after her parents' divorce.
