Shafee conferred Doctor of Law award

PETALING JAYA: Former Suhakam commissioner Datuk Seri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah has been conferred the “Doctor of Law” award by the University of East London on Thursday.

He was presented the award for his consistent and focused contributions over the decades in the fields of criminal justice, global human rights and global anti-terrorism both locally and internationally.

Shafee, who was elated with the award, said in a statement that he remained in touch with the national and international academia despite his work as legal counsel and practitioner.

He said the honour of a Doctorate of Law was the single greatest honour he had ever received and he would be more active in the field of human rights and conflict, the criminal justice system, anti-terrorism laws and their interaction with the Constitution.
