MALACCA: The Prime Minister’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor heads the state’s honours list in conjunction with the 72nd birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob today.
This year’s occasion will see 934 people being conferred various awards for their contributions.
Rosmah will be conferred the Darjah Utama Negeri Melaka (DUNM), which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama, while Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ng Yen Yen and Chief Justice Tun Zaki Tun Azmi will be awarded the Darjah Gemilang Seri Melaka that comes with the title Datuk Seri.
Three people – the chief confidential secretary to the Prime Minister’s office Datuk Ab Aziz Kasim, Media Prima Sdn Bhd executive director Datuk Ahmad Abdul Talib and Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin – will receive the Darjah Cemerlang Seri Melaka (DCSM), with the title Datuk Wira.
Among the 32 recipients for the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (DMSM), which carries the title Datuk, are state Education Department director Isa Abu, Sungai Rambai state assemblyman Hasan Rahman, state police chief SAC I Datuk Mohd Rodwan Mohd Yusof, state MIC deputy chairman S. Maha-devan, and Star Publications (M) Berhad executive editor Wong Sai Wan.
Also honoured are 59 first-recipients of the newly created award Darjah Pangkuan Seri Melaka (DPSM) that carries the title Datuk.
Among them are Malaysia Scouts Federation chairman Abd Kader Md Nor, special officer to the Prime Minister Wan Ahmad Shihab Ismail the Prime Minister’s press secretary Akmar Hisham Mohd Yusof @ Mokhles, Perodua managing director Aminar Rashid Salleh, Honda Malaysia Sdn Bhd senior general manager Azhar Abd Wahab, Maybank senior executive vice-president Jamaludin Nasir, Karate Association Malaysia third vice-president Lau Puan Long, Wushu, Lion & Dragon Dance Association committee member Lee Ing Chin @ Lee Teck Seng and Kuala Selangor state assemblyman Mohf Isa Abu Kasim.
Thirty-two others will receive the Darjah Seri Melaka (DSM) award, 47 the Jaksa Pendamai (JP), including Malaysian Book Industry Council’s chairman Datuk Hoe Wat Sing and 97 their Bintang Cemerlang Melaka (BCM) honours.
The Bintang Khidmat Terpuji (BKT) will be awarded to 154 people while 250 others will receive the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK), 206 their Pingat Bakti Masyarakat (PBM) and the rest the Pingat Khidmat Lama (PKL).
