Documentary on Supermokh to premiere on Aug 30

KUALA LUMPUR: A documentary on Malaysian footballing legend Mokhtar Dahari, popularly known as Supermokh, will premiere on National Geographic Channel (Astro Channel 533) at 9pm on the eve of National Day with repeats at 9pm on Sept 4 and Sept 15.

The Untold Truth About Super-mokh, directed by Tang Siang Ching and produced by Loo Shun Ming, tells among others the cause of the late international footballer’s death.

Among those interviewed for the documentary is Supermokh’s eldest daughter Nur Azera Mohd Mokhtar, 27.

“I was proud, I am proud and I will always be proud,” she said after a media screening of the documentary yesterday.

Mokhtar was the crown jewel among Malaysia’s golden generation of footballers.

“The late Mokhtar Dahari will forever be in the memory of Malaysians.

“He is one in a million and no one will ever replace him,” said Ahmad Mahmud, a former physical fitness coach who worked with the Selangor team.

In the documentary, there is also mention of Mokhtar’s miraculous experience while carrying out the haj with Ahmad.

“It was a nightmare to face him.

“One Mokhtar was equal to three other Malaysians,” said Singaporean ex-footballer Samad Alipitchay who played against the legend.

The documentary is part of Astro’s NegaraKu, The Best Of 1Malaysia Stories On Air campaign in conjunction with Malaysia’s 53rd National Day.
