KUALA LUMPUR: Former deputy inspector-general of police (IGP) Tan Sri Mohd Sedek Ali, who fell into a coma following a road accident on Sept 1 last year, died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital Friday.
He was 60.
Bukit Aman public relations officer Supt Rasdi Ramli said Mohd Sedek, who had severe brain injury, died in the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Neurology Department at about 7.30am.
He said the body would be taken to Masjid Bukit Aman for prayers before burial in Kajang.
In the incident, Mohd Sekek sustained serious head injuries after the car that he was driving skidded, hit a road divider and collided with another car near a petrol station at km17 of the Grand Saga highway.
He was appointed deputy IGP on Jan 13, 2004, and retired about a year later. -- Bernama
