Student killed at home in possible robbery-cum-murder

BENTONG: A teenager was found dead in her bedroom with her throat slit in a possible robbery-cum-murder in Kampung Ketari on Sunday.

Annie Kok Yin Cheng, 17, was believed to have died from the wound some 12 hours before she was found.

The Form Five student of SM Sulaiman was to have taken her SPM examinations this year. She had been staying with her stepfather, who is the village headman.

OCPD Supt Rosli Abdul Rahman said the victim’s older sister had tried to call her earlier but the calls went unanswered.

Sensing something amiss, he said Yin Cheng’s sister, who stayed nearby in Karak, went to her house. She found Yin Cheng in bed.

“Thinking her sister was still asleep, she tried to wake her up but was shocked to see a deep cut on her throat,” he said.

Supt Rosli said the victim was not raped. He urged anyone with information to contact the police.
