Sultanah leads honours list


ALOR STAR: The Sultanah of Kedah Tuanku Haminah Hamidun heads a list of 72 people receiving awards in conjunction with the Kedah Sultan’s Golden Jubilee celebration.

The investiture ceremony will be held at the Istana Anak Bukit today.

The Sultanah, Tunku Bendahara of Kedah Datuk Seri Tunku Anuar Sultan Badlishah and Datuk Seri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Sultan Abdul Halim would be bestowed with the Darjah Kerabat Halimi (DKH).

Sabah Yang di-Pertua Negri Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will be bestowed with Darjah Mahkota Kedah (DMK) which carries the title Datuk Seri Utama.

Tunku Temenggung of Kedah Datuk Seri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, Tunku Laksamana of Kedah Datuk Seri Tunku Abdul Hamid Thani Sultan Badlishah, Datuk Seri Tunku Soraya Sultan Abdul Halim and former Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid will be bestowed with the Datuk Seri Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Yang Amat Dihormati (SHMS) which carries the title Datuk Seri Diraja.

Mentri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak, Datuk Tunku Hamidah Sultan Badlishah and Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar will receive the Darjah Seri Setia Paduka Mahkota Kedah (SPMK), which carries the title Datuk Seri.

Eight people will be bestowed the Darjah Seri Setia Diraja Kedah (SSDK) which also carries the title Datuk Seri.

They are Datuk Tunku Ahmad Nerang Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-haj, Appeal Court president Tan Sri Zaki Azmi, Chief Judge of Malaya Tan Sri Alaudin Mohd Sheriff, Armed Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Zainal, Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar, Petronas president and chief executive officer Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, Sime Darby Bhd group chief executive Datuk Seri Ahmad Zubir Murshid and Al-Bukhary Foundation executive chairman Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhari.

Two deputy ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department – Datuk Chor Chee Heung and Datuk Mohd Johari Baharum – are among four people who will receive the Darjah Gemilang Mahkota Kedah (DGMK), which carries the title Datuk Wira.

Two exco members will be among 29 people to be bestowed with the Datuk Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) which carries the title Datuk. They are state Housing and Local Government Committee chairman Taulan Mat Rasul and the Industry, Investment, Science, Innovation and Agriculture Committee chairman Phahrolrazi Mohd Zawawi.

Five people will receive the Darjah Setia Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah (DHMS) which carries the title Datuk Paduka.

They are Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, State Secretary Datuk Wira Syed Unan Mashri Syed Abdullah, Kurnia Asia Berhad group executive chairman Tan Sri Kua Sian Kooi, Country Height Holding Bhd vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Kim Tiong @ Lee Lim Yew and Datuk Rahmat Abu Bakar.

Vimal Holding Sdn Bhd general manager Sugumaran a/l Sinnasamy, Federation Oil Factory Sdn Bhd managing director Tan Ah Ba @ Chen It Peow and Binan Sentosa Sdn Bhd managing director Loh Tieng Hock are among those who will receive the Darjah Setia Diraja Kedah (DSDK) which carries the title Datuk.
