IPOH: Speculations over the 10 Perak executive council positions will end today after the swearing-in ceremony at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar.
The much-anticipated ceremony, scheduled to start at 11am, will take place before the Regent of Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah.
The three parties in the newly formed DAP-PKR-PAS government had, after many long meetings, agreed to a six-three-one formula for the line-up, with DAP taking the lion’s share, followed by PKR and PAS.
The post of Mentri Besar has gone to Pasir Panjang assemblyman and Perak PAS secretary Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, who took his oath of office on March 17.
According to highly placed sources, the DAP representatives comprise Perak DAP chief Ngeh Koo Ham, state party secretary Nga Kor Ming, state committee member Thomas Su Keong Siong, state treasurer Chen Fook Chye, party central executive committee member A. Sivanesan and national assistant organising secretary Seah Leong Peng.
The three from PKR are expected to be Perak PKR deputy chairman Tai Sing Ng, state treasurer Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi and Bukit Gantang PKR division information chief Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu.
Perak PAS liaison committee member and state national unity bureau chairman Mohd Zainudin Mohd Yusof will take up the final post.
Rumours of a tussle for the exco posts began circulating even before Mohammad Nizar took his oath of office.
In fact, his swearing-in had initially been scheduled for March 13 but was postponed at the last minute when PKR threatened to pull out of the coalition, following its unhappiness over the distribution of exco posts.
