KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran actress Kasma Booty, 75, is being treated at the Ampang Hospital after she complained of shortness of breath due to water in the lungs.
Kasma was hospitalised on Sunday.
“This (yesterday) morning a doctor confirmed that she was also suffering from a heart problem,” her eldest child, Chempaka Booty Jacobs, 57, said when met at the hospital yesterday.
She also suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes.
Kasma, who has five children and had suffered from several ailments over the years, was being looked after by Chempaka.
The former actress, who was born in Kiasaran, near Medan, Sumatra, and is of Dutch-Javanese parentage, rose to fame between the 1940s and mid-1960s.
Minister of Culture, Art and Heritage, Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim, who visited Kasma yesterday, said the ministry presented aid of RM10,000 to Kasma through Finas. – Bernama
