Penang CPO made CID chief


Wan: Promoted to directorof CID

KUALA LUMPUR: Penang Chief Police Officer Deputy Commissioner Datuk Christopher Wan Soo Kee has been promoted to Director of Criminal Investigations Department (CID) with the rank of Commissioner in a major promotion and reshuffle exercise involving more than 120 senior officers. 

Also promoted to Commissioner are deputy director of management Deputy Commissioner Datuk Abang Wahab Abang Julai (to Director of Narcotics Crimes Investigations Department) and Perak police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Zainal Tahir (to Director of the Logistics Department). 

Johor deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Koh Hong Sun will take over as Penang police chief with the rank of Deputy Commissioner. 

Others promoted were Narcotics Crimes Investigations Department deputy director Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Aziz Bulat (to Perak Chief Police Officer). 

Abang Wahab: Promoted toCommissioner

Deputy CID director Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mokhtar Hassan takes over as Sabah police chief from Deputy Commissioner Datuk Mangsor Ismail, who retired recently. 

Negri Sembilan police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar takes over from Mokhtar with the rank of Deputy Commissioner while Kuala Lumpur deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Ahmad Bahrin Idrus takes over as Negri Sembilan police chief. 

Comm Wan, who turns 56 in January, has been offered a one-year contract. 

The Penang-born officer thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan for having the confidence in him to be director of CID. 

“My immediate task is to improve the quality of investigation and services within the CID,” he said.
