Petite actress Lydia is no teenager

PETALING JAYA: “I am not an 18-year-old!” said actress Lydia Ibtisam, who is of Malay-Arab parentage.

The 25-year-old bubbly lass who gained fame in the series Impian Ilyana said most people had the misconception that she was immature because she looked like a teenager.  

“Many people think I’m immature just because I’m petite. That is when I tell them off,” she said.  

The multimedia communications graduate from Universiti Malaya loves acting and aspires to host her own show one day. 

She took a step closer to her dreams when she accepted a role in Dunia Anita which is directed by Aziz. M. Osman. 

“Dunia Anita is actually a spin-off from the Puteri series. I will play Zaitun, who is Anita’s best friend,” she said. 

Lydia will also appear in the sitcom Reality with Awal Shaari, Alvin Wong, Azizan Nin and Melissa Maureen.  

The show is directed by Ng Ping Hoo of Kopitiam, Table for Two and Impian Ilyana fame. 

The multi-talented actress said she was now recording her debut single with an independent recording company using her own money. 

“This is a big sacrifice by me to ensure that everything goes exactly as I want without any interference from other parties,” Lydia said.
