Isa’s wife passes away


KUALA LUMPUR: Puan Sri Hazizah Tumin, wife of former Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Isa Samad, died at the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Cheras at 10.50am yesterday after a long battle with cancer. 

Hazizah, 53, had been suffering from cancer of the salivary gland for the past 10 years.

Isa said due to her worsening condition, Hazizah was admitted to the hospital last Sunday. 

Isa said he and his children Mohamad Najib, 27, Megawati, 24, Lelawati, 21, and Juhaida, 16 were by his wife's side when she died. 

Hazizah, a former teacher, married Isa on Nov 26, 1977. 

Her body was brought back to the family home in Nilai Springs and was buried at the Port Dickson Muslim Cemetery after Asar prayers.  

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdulah Ahmad Bawadi, who is in Mecca, extended his condolences to Isa. 

“I know his feeling because I went through a similar situation. I hope he would be patient and I prayed God would bless her soul,” Abdullah said.
