Siti Nurhaliza voted best female singer for third time

KUALA LUMPUR: Pop queen Siti Nurhaliza walked away with the Choice Female Vocal Performance award at the Anugerah ERA 2005. 

Siti won the award for the third time, beating other finalists who included Dayang Nurfaizah, Liza Hanim, Ziana Zain and Farah.

She was also nominated for the Choice Duo/Group Vocal Performance, Choice Music Video, Choice Global Music and Choice Pop Song awards but lost to other finalists. 

At the presentation ceremony at Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil last night, Akademi Fantasia 3 champion Mawi upstaged his more established counterparts in the music industry by bagging the Choice DiGi Artiste award. 

The collaborative effort of KRU brothers and Adam in Terhangat Di Pasaran won them two awards for the night – Choice Duo/Group Vocal Performance and Choice Music Video. 

After 25 years of involvement in the local music industry, singer-songwriter-album producer M. Nasir was presented with the Anugerah Khas ERA for his contributions. 

The winners of ERA awards were decided based on votes cast by the public via Internet, SMS, post or fax. 

Singer Anuar Zain, who was in Germany for a music festival, won the Choice Male Vocal Performance award, beating Zainal Abidin, Vince, Zahid and Adam among others, while rock band Spider was named the Choice Band. 

In addition, Zahid was voted Choice Promising Artiste, V.E., Choice Local English Artiste, and Yasmin Ahmad’s movie Sepet, Choice Kaki Wayang (Movie). 

Dayang Nurfaizah’s Erti Hidup was Choice Global Music and Azharina’s Elegi Sepi was Choice Pop Song while the Mirwana and Jay Jay collaboration Aku Tanpa Cintamu was named Choice Nasyid Song. Indonesian band Peterpan's Mungkin Nanti was voted Choice Rock Song.
