Hussein Onn’s daughter dies at 56

PETALING JAYA: Lawyer Datin Roquiya Hanim, the eldest child of the third prime minister, the late Tun Hussein Onn, died yesterday of breast cancer. 

Roquaiya Hanim, 56, died at 4.15am at the Damansara Specialist Centre and was buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery. 

At her bedside were her husband, Datuk Ghazi Ishak, their three sons, three grandchildren and other family members.

Roquaiya Hanim was the eldest of the six children for Hussein and Tun Suhaila Mohd Noah. Her siblings include Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin. 

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Housing and Local Government Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting and Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman were among those who paid their last respects.
